Summer School is a hit with older
adults at Laurel Lake
June 9, 2009 -- Laurel Lake Retirement Community’s "Keys to a Sharp Mind" lifelong learning series for older adults continues through June, July and August with classes that are free and open to the public, and will be held at 200 Laurel Lake Drive in Hudson. Call 330-650-2100 to pre-register.
Funded by the Reinberger Foundation, to study the benefits of cognitive fitness training in older adults through the use of intellectually, socially stimulating programs.
HISTORY OF THE BROADWAY MUSICAL – June 18 at 4:30 PM. Instructor: Manuel J. Albacete, Executive Director, Canton Museum of Art. Last in series on the history of Broadway shows, with DVD highlights.
THE AMERICAN EDUCATION SYSTEM – June 25 at 1:00 PM. Mark Crail, Ph.D., retired Superintendent of Kent City Schools, reviews the current state of American education, its strengths and weaknesses. Intergenerational session for participants, their children and grandchildren.
FROST, SANDBURG, DICKINSON AND KEATS – July 9 at 6:30 PM. Poetry readings and recitations by acclaimed poet and actor Merle Mollenkopf.

AMERICAN EDUCATION: THE INTERGENERATIONAL SCHOOL – August 13 at 2:00 PM. Dr. Cathy Whitehouse, Director of Cuyahoga County’s award winning charter school, discusses the benefits of intergenerational learning.
