Three new members appointed to Laurel Lake 
Board of Directors

Hudson, OH / October 29, 2008 Laurel Lake Retirement Community, a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community in Hudson, Ohio, is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors.

Robert A. Kent, D.O. is President of Premiere Medical Partners, a large, multi-specialty physician group in Northeast Ohio, as well as Premiere Medical Resources, a physician management services organization. Dr. Kent has served on several Summa Health System boards including the Summa Health Network and Summa Enterprise Group. He also served as Director of Medical Education and Vice President of Medical Affairs for one of the Summa Health System hospitals. Currently, Dr. Kent is also leading a group of 100 physicians known as Western Reserve Hospital Partners, who with Summa Health System are working to bring the area’s first physician-owned hospital to northern Summit County.

Dr. Kent moved to Ohio from his home state of Iowa in 1998 after completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Michigan State. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and completed his medical degree at Des Moines University in Iowa after graduating from St. Ambrose University with a Bachelor’s degree. Dr. Kent resides in Chagrin Falls with his wife, Jennifer, also a physician, and three children.

Melodie Morgan-Minott, M.D. served for ten years as Medical Director for the Center for Behavioral Health at Robinson Memorial Hospital and has been in private practice since 1984, first in Akron and now in Kent. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at Harlem Hospital in New York, and then earned a degree in psychology from Columbia University and a medical degree from New York Medical College. She completed her internship at Akron General Medical Center and Psychiatry Residency at NEOUCOM, where she is now a member of the faculty.

Dr. Morgan-Minott is active in leading organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association, American Medical Association, Black Psychiatrists Association and National Medical Association. She has written a regular psychiatric column for the Record Courier newspaper in Ravenna, and was staff psychiatrist on WNIR Radio’s Advice Line. In 2000, Governor Taft appointed Dr. Morgan-Minott to the Board of Directors of the Ohio Medical Quality Foundation, which grants funds to non-profit organizations working to improve healthcare in Ohio. She was been repeatedly voted a "Top Doc" by readers of Cleveland Magazine, Northern Ohio Live and Akron Life & Leisure.

Sister Barbara Noble, H.M. has served as Coordinator of Patient and Family Education and Staff Educator for Humility of Mary Health Partners in Warren and Youngstown, Ohio for the last ten years, and prior to that at St. Joseph Riverside Hospital in Warren where her Diabetes Educational Program was recognized as a model program by the Ohio Department of Health. Sr. Barbara earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University and a Master of Science in Health and Human Services from Columbia Pacific University in San Rafael, California. She entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary community from St. Patrick Parish, Kent.

Professional affiliations include the Ohio Nurse’s Association, the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Diabetes Association, Health Care Education Association, the International Childbirth Education Association and many others. Sr. Barbara has served on the board of the American Heart Association – Trumbull County as Secretary, Program Committee Chair and President, during which time she received the National "Time, Feeling, Focus" Award. She has also been an active member and committee chairperson for the boards of the American Cancer Society and the American Lung Association – Eastern Branch, and served as Vice President and Historian for the Kent State University School of Nursing Alumni Association.
