Laurel Lake breaks ground for Library expansion

September 3, 2008 -- Laurel Lake recently broke ground for an expansion of its Library to increase available collection space by nearly 50%.

The Library offers a broad spectrum of books, audiobooks and DVDs, along with periodicals and reference materials, and hosts regular poetry readings and book discussion groups. Laurel Lake residents can easily request materials from the Hudson Library, as well. The Library is managed by a committee of resident volunteers including retired librarians and teachers.

The new construction was made possible by a major gift from an anonymous donor, with additional gifts received for shelving and other furnishings. The expansion is expected to take at least six weeks to complete.

"We are very excited about this addition, and ask that all of our loyal patrons will bear with us during construction and renovations," said Marjorie Steffen, chairman of the Library Committee.

Laurel Lake is the smart lifestyle choice for adults 62+ who wish to continue leading full, active lives filled with a variety of interests and aspirations, such as volunteering, work, travel, fitness, cultural and lifelong learning pursuits.
